Adiyogi and Gudibande Fort – A Day of Divinity and Adventure
Visiting the Adiyogi Shiva statue in Chikkaballapur and hiking up the Gudibande Fort — both doable in one day
Some weekends, you just want more than brunch and traffic. I was craving something deeper… something that made me feel both alive and at peace. That’s when I stumbled upon a perfect combination: visiting the Adiyogi Shiva statue in Chikkaballapur and hiking up the Gudibande Fort — both doable in one day, and just a couple of hours away from Bangalore.
The idea of a day filled with spiritual energy, nature, and history sounded just right.
Starting the Day – The Road to Gudibande Fort
We hit the road around 6 AM from Bangalore. With a quick chai stop and some music, we reached Gudibande, a small, sleepy town about 90 km away, in less than two hours.
The Gudibande Fort sits like a crown on top of a hill, visible from afar. What struck me immediately was how peaceful everything felt. Unlike some other trekking spots, this one wasn’t flooded with crowds. It felt personal, untouched.
Gudibande Fort Trek – A Walk Through History
The trek to Gudibande Fort is short and sweet – around 1 km of uphill walking – but it gives you the best payoff. The trail winds through old stone steps, small gateways, and viewpoints that open up to vast stretches of green, with lakes peeking out between hills.
Built by Byre Gowda in the 17th century, the fort has 7 levels, and each has something to explore — ancient temples, narrow watchtowers, and water reservoirs that still collect rainwater. Our favorite spot? A little Shiva temple at the top with a cool breeze and panoramic views that made the climb feel totally worth it.
If you're into easy treks near Bangalore with historical charm, Gudibande Fort is a hidden gem.
From Fort to Faith – Heading to Adiyogi Chikkaballapur
After spending about 2 hours at the fort (and clicking way too many photos), we left for Adiyogi Chikkaballapur, which is just a 40-minute drive away. As we approached the site, we could see the giant Adiyogi Shiva statue rising against the hills – calm, majestic, and magnetic.
Unlike Coimbatore’s Adiyogi, this one is relatively new but equally breathtaking. The surroundings are beautifully maintained, with a spiritual vibe in the air that you can feel instantly.
The Aura of Adiyogi – Peace in the Presence of Shiva
We walked barefoot toward the Adiyogi statue, the scent of incense wafting around, chants playing softly, and the towering form of Shiva watching over everyone. It wasn’t just a place to visit — it was a place to feel.
There’s something incredibly humbling about standing in front of a 112-foot statue that symbolizes inner stillness. We spent time meditating, exploring the campus, and just soaking in the atmosphere.
If you’re searching for peaceful places to visit near Bangalore, this is a soul-soothing experience.
The Grand Finale – Adiyogi Laser Show Experience
As the sun dipped behind the hills, the anticipation began to build. People started gathering in front of the statue, and soon, the Adiyogi laser light and sound show began.
It’s hard to describe the feeling in words. The lights danced across the sky, narrating the story of Shiva, the first yogi – Adiyogi. The visuals were stunning, the music powerful, and the voiceover made the story feel alive. It wasn’t just a show — it was an emotional, spiritual performance that left many of us with goosebumps.
Definitely one of the best laser shows in Karnataka, and a perfect way to end the day.
What Makes This Day Trip So Special?
This combination of Gudibande Fort and Adiyogi Chikkaballapur isn’t just another touristy route. It’s a rare blend of trekking, history, spirituality, and modern storytelling — all wrapped up in one unforgettable day.
Whether you're going solo, with friends, or on a family weekend trip, this journey has something for everyone.

Final Words – A Day That Filled My Soul
By the time we drove back to Bangalore, I felt physically tired but mentally refreshed. The Gudibande Fort trek gave me a sense of adventure and history, while the Adiyogi statue and laser show left me emotionally elevated.
It was a day of walking ancient paths and watching gods come alive in beams of light. And somewhere between the climb and the chants, I found something I wasn’t even looking for — a moment of stillness.
